Bahawalpur: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Farhan Farooq regarding organisation of the 20th TDCP International Cholistan Desert Rally 2025.

The meeting reviewed the arrangements for the Cholistan Desert Rally. The Deputy Commissioner stated that all arrangements for the Cholistan Desert Rally should be completed on time and that the relevant departments should work under a coordinated strategy. He emphasized that comprehensive facilities should be provided to the participants of the Cholistan Desert Rally. He also mentioned that the members of the committee formed for better arrangements for the organization of the rally, participants, and spectators should work actively.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue, Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance, Assistant Commissioners, TDCP, Education, Cholistan Development Authority, Rescue 1122, Police, and other officials from relevant departments were also present at the meeting. It was announced that the inaugural ceremony of the 20th TDCP International Cholistan Desert Rally would be held on February 11. On February 12, vehicle registration and technical inspection will take place at the TDCP Resort. The qualifying round will be held on February 13 at the Dilwash Stadium in Derawar. On February 14, separate races for men and women will be held in the prepared category. On February 15, separate races for men and women will be held in the stock category. A cultural night and fireworks display will take place at Daloosh Stadium. On February 16, the second round of the prepared category will be held. On the same day, truck races, dirt bike races, and quad bike races will be organized at Dalo osh Stadium in Cholistan, while the TDCP Resort Desert will host the awards ceremony at 7 PM.

Faisalabad: The Environment Protection Department (EPD) launched a motivational campaign by distributing environment-friendly shopping bags in commercial areas, here on Thursday.

The teams, headed by Deputy Director Usman Azhar, went to business and shopping centres and markets and distributed bags among traders and common people to motivate them to use such bags for protection of the environment.

The deputy director said that environmentally friendly shopping bags are imperative to save the atmosphere and urged the traders to extend coordination with the department in this regard.

Peshawar: Assistant Deputy Commissioner, Muhammad Waqas here Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss matters relating to collaboration between Women Facilitation Desk (WFD) and service providers.

The meeting was held under Sarhad Rural Support Program and GIZ. The meeting was also informed about objectives of WFD, their achievements, challenges and progress on ongoing projects.

Addressing the meeting, assistant commissioner highlighted the importance of women's access to services center and their involvement in governance. He assured support and cooperation of district administration stressing steps for women empowerment.

On the occasion, stakeholders concurred to cooperation and develop coordination for solving women's problems.

Dera ismail khan: As many as 110 terrorists were killed while 57 others were arrested in different operations conducted by the Dera Ismail Khan Region police and other security forces during last year of 2024.

It was stated by Dera Range police spokesman Waheed Ashar while sharing the annual performance report of the Dera Range police.

He informed that 39 policemen were also martyred and 54 others got injured during these operations.

In 2024, he informed, a total of 10,641 First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered for various crimes, leading to the arrest of 10,443 suspects. The police also recovered about 1470 illegal weapons and 47273 cartridges of different bores from the arrested accused.

Under the campaign against the menace of drugs, the police also recovered 593 kilograms of hashish, 86 kilograms of heroin, 145 kilograms Ice, 2.5 kilograms of opium, two kilograms of marijuana and 360 bottles of alcohol.

Under the National Action Plan, 909 search and strike operations were conducted to maintain public peace and order. These operations resulted in the arrest of 6,111 suspects and the recovery of 647 weapons of various calibers and 13,351 rounds of ammunition.

Additionally, 17,459 snap checkpoints were set up, where 34,032 suspects were apprehended, and 694 weapons along with 30,364 cartridges were seized.

Over the last year, 894 proclaimed offenders were also arrested, the spokesman informed.

The traffic police education team conducted awareness sessions in various schools, colleges, and universities to educate students about traffic rules, he said and added that thousands of pamphlets and helmets were distributed among the public.

To combat crime and monitor terrorists, modern technology-equipped command and control centers were established in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, South Waziristan Upper, and South Waziristan Lower.

He said the efforts for dispute resolution were made through Dispute Resolution Councils (DRCs), which successfully resolved 325 out of 383 applications received in 2024. Additionally, 14,553 citizens sought assistance through Police Assistance Lines (PAL).

About the promotions within the police department, he said the 13 head constables were promoted to Assistant Sub-Inspectors' ranks, 102 Assistant Sub-Inspectors were confirmed, and 8 Assistant Sub-Inspectors were promoted to Sub-Inspectors ranks.

For the welfare of the police, over 13.85 million rupees were allocated to various sectors, including medical, education, scholarships, marriage funds, funeral expenses, and other allowances.

The recruitment quota for children of martyred policemen was increased from 5 percent to 12.5 percent, under which the recruitment of 10 Assistant Sub-Inspectors from the martyrs' families was completed.

Haripur: The Pakistan Digital City project Haripur, currently under construction, has been hailed as a transformative initiative for the country's digital economy. Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Science and Technology Shafqat Iqbal expressed these views during his visit to the project site.

Speaking on the occasion, described the project as a milestone in realizing Pakistan's vision for digital development, he emphasized the project's potential to create extensive employment opportunities for the youth and strengthen Pakistan's position in the global digital economy. The advisor instructed all relevant departments to ensure transparency and maintain high standards throughout the project's execution.

The visit was also attended by prominent political figures, including the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Umar Ayub Khan, Provincial Minister for Local Government Arshad Ayub Khan, and Provincial Parliamentary Leader and Chairman DDAC Akbar Ayub Khan. Retired Colonel Tauqeer briefed the delegation on the project's progress and outlined its future goals.

Recognizing the importance of the initiative, Opposition Leader Umar Ayub Khan announced an additional PKR 200 million to ensure the project's timely and quality-driven completion. He termed the project a game-changer for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a significant step toward elevating Pakistan's technological sector to global standards.

Provincial Minister Arshad Ayub Khan and Chairman DDAC Akbar Ayub Khan expressed their commitment to supporting the initiative, assuring that the government would provide all necessary assistance to ensure its success.

The Pakistan Digital City project is expected to serve as a driving force for technological and innovation-led development in the country, creating world-class opportunities for Pakistan's youth and establishing the nation as a hub for digital advancement.
