Rawalpindi: The representatives of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) belonging to Rawalpindi on Thursday announced to participate fully in the upcoming local government elections and complete development works in education and health, including the TB hospital and drain project soon.

They welcomed the provision of development schemes by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif at the level of union councils.

They were addressing the convention of the former local bodies' chairmen, vice chairmen and councillors, and party officials from across the city held under the leadership of PML-N Metropolitan President and former mayor Sardar Naseem.

Member of National Assembly Hanif Abbasi, in his address, said Nawaz Sharif was the only leader of the PML-N. He was fully committed to the party, which was evident from the 25-year prison sentence he had faced, he added.

Expressing his commitment to serve the people selflessly, Abbasi said,'The lies, deceit, abuse and politics of 'oh, oh, oh' of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder will end forever.

'We will unite the PML-N workers at the union council level. We will complete all development works soon and will participate fully in the upcoming local government elections and give the party leadership the result of the 2015 victory.'

Hanif Abbasi said the party workers who had made sacrifices would get their rightful place. 'In the future, the distribution of tickets will be done through consultation and on merit. No MNA or MPA will interfere,' he added.

He said they were fully monitoring the affairs of the Municipal Corporation, Health Department, Education Department and police stations. 'We will be held accountable if any UC secretary charges even one rupee more than the prescribed government fee for issuance of birth certificates and death certificates,' he added.

Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Daniyal Tanveer Chaudhry said that both the government and the Pakistan armed forces were serving and protecting the country, and 'we will unite and thwart all the conspiracies of non-state actors'.

'Those who had come to get dead bodies at the D Chowk did not get anything. Now, the politics of arson, violence, and hatred will have to die. Only a progressive Pakistan will prevail.

'We will give pens and books to our children, and not shrouds and guns,' he added.

Sardar Naseem said that during his one and a half years stint as Rawalpindi Mayor, he got development works worth billions of rupees done in the city.

The PDM government under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif, he said, saved the country from bankruptcy. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was working day and night to formulate and complete public welfare projects, he added.

Former MNAs Haji Pervez Khan and Malik Shakeel Awan, Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Information Shazia Rizwan, Chairman of the Chief Minister Inspection Team Punjab Raja Hanif, Members of Provincial Assembly Ziaullah Shah, Zeinul Nisa Awan, Rifaat Abbasi and Begum Tahseen Fawad, and Rahat Quddusi also addressed the convention.

Sargodha: The Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) at the University of Sargodha began a two-day training workshop for grade 17 and 18 administrative officers. The workshop aimed to enhance the skills and capabilities of the university's management staff.

University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of professional development in improving institutional efficiency and effectiveness.

The notable speakers included Prof. Dr. Yousaf Bashir from the University of Gujrat, Director ORIC UoS Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, and Consultant HRDC Khursheed Yousaf. While around 50 administrative officers participated in the workshop.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasized the importance of administrative structure and professional skills in the success and growth of any institution. He highlighted that workshops like these, which focus on modern skills and trends, prepare officers to effectively perform their duties in an ever-changing environment. He further stated, Administrative officers are the backbone of any institution, and their performance directly impacts the overall outcomes of the organization.

Prof. Dr. Yousaf Bashir explained the Role of Technology in the Workplace and discussed how technology has become the backbone of any organization. He emphasized that the effective use of technology not only streamlines office operations but also enhances performance. He illustrated the benefits of technology through practical examples, stating that a well-organized, tech-based system can give any institution a competitive edge.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal delivered a lecture on Financial Management in Institutions, stressing the importance of proper financial resource allocation and planning. He highlighted financial oversight, budgeting, and efficient resource distribution as key factors in driving institutional growth.

Khursheed Yousaf discussed Systemic Thinking, explaining that a successful institution operates when all systems work in harmony. He urged administrative officers to adopt a comprehensive strategy and broader perspective in problem-solving, ensuring that all systems are interconnected and aligned for better overall performance.

Hyderabad: The Sindh government has appointed Dr. Abdul Hameed Khooharo, Senior Medical Officer (BS-19), as the new District Health Officer (BS-19/20) for Jamshoro.

Previously serving as the Additional District Health Officer (BS-19) at the District Health Office in Dadu, Dr. Khooharo assumed his new position following the retirement of Dr. Imamuddin Khoso, on January 10.

According to an official notification issued on 2nd January, Dr. Khooharo will officially take charge of the post after Dr. Khoso’s retirement.

Peshawar: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Thursday highlighted the importance of encouraging the province's talented youth, saying that the Governor House was actively working towards supporting young individuals.

The Governor made these remarks while interacting with a representative delegation from the 71st Harvard National Model United Nations Pakistan at the Governor House in Peshawar. The delegation was led by Fahad Malik, consisted of young people from various cities of Pakistan.

Governor Kundi highlighted that when Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited the Governor House for the first time, a representative group of talented athletes from the province was invited on short notice.

He praised the exceptional abilities of these individuals. He urged the youth not to be discouraged, emphasizing that Pakistan has both talented youth and ample resources. He stressed the need for collective effort to build a better future for the country.

Kundi urged the youth to continue making their country proud on their own, saying that with proper government support, Pakistan's global reputation could be further enhanced.

He encouraged young people to take on roles as ambassadors of their country while abroad, emphasizing that the future of the nation lies in education and technology.

Meanwhile, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi praised the recent achievements of the Blind Cricket Team for bringing honor to the country during a meeting with the Peshawar Cricket Club for the Blind, led by Habibullah Khattak.

During the meeting, the Governor was informed that two players and one coach from the club participated in the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup, held in December 2024, where Pakistan emerged as the world champion. Additionally, one player from the club served as the head coach of the Afghanistan Blind Cricket Team.

The club representatives presented their demands to the Governor, including requests for jobs, grounds, the organization of the Governor's Cup and financial support for sports activities.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi acknowledged the exceptional talent in Pakistan's sports community, citing the success of the Blind Cricket Team as a prime example.

He highlighted the lack of adequate facilities for players, whether it be training grounds or other essential resources.

The Governor assured that he is in contact with relevant officials to address the challenges faced by players and improve the promotion of sports activities in the province.

Kundi further pointed out that the provincial government has not been sufficiently proactive in supporting sports initiatives.

He stressed that these athletes are valuable assets to the province and bring great pride to the region.

He urged the provincial government to provide them with the necessary support and facilities to enhance their performance and continue making the province proud.

Similarly, Chairman of the FATA Tribunal, Kifayatullah Khan, met with the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, at the Governor House.

During the meeting, discussions were held on judicial matters, public issues, and the provision of justice in the former FATA regions.

The Chairman briefed the Governor on the tribunal's performance and progress in the resolution of cases.

He highlighted the complexities of legal matters in the region and the challenges of delivering prompt justice to the public.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi praised the performance of the FATA Tribunal, emphasizing that the provision of justice in the former tribal areas and resolving their issues with federal departments are top priorities.

He assured full cooperation in strengthening the role of the Tribunal and facilitating the public.

He further said that the people of the tribal areas have high expectations from the FATA Tribunal, and the Governor House will provide all possible support in this regard.

Meanwhile, Deputy Auditor General (North), Sajid Ali Nadeem held a meeting with Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House. The meeting was attended by Director of Audits, Dr. Ameen Ullah, Sajid Khan, and Liaqat Ali.

During the meeting, the Deputy Auditor General presented the Special Study Report for the year 2023-24 on the Water and Sanitation Services Company (WSSC) in Abbottabad District.

The report provides a detailed assessment of water supply and sanitation services in Abbottabad's four urban union councils and 11 neighborhood councils.

Additionally, the Deputy Auditor General also presented the Performance Audit Report for the Double Shift Schools Program in Charsadda District for 2023-24.

The report highlighted several key findings and made recommendations for the program's improvement.

Among the recommendations were the immediate closure of non-functional programs and the introduction of greater transparency in the process of transferring students from morning shifts to evening classes.

The report also called for the confirmation of records for teacher payments under the program within a month.

Governor Kundi emphasized the importance of financial discipline and adherence to rules and regulations in order to navigate the province out of the financial crisis. He stressed that financial transparency is crucial for good governance across all sectors.

Speaking about local governance, Governor Kundi highlighted the pivotal role of local representatives at the Union Council level, saying that they are closely connected to the local population and district administration.

He urged the local representatives to work with audit bodies to ensure transparency in development initiatives at the Union Council level.

"The implementation of good governance in all sectors will require ensuring financial transparency in all matters," Governor Faisal Karim Kundi added.

Sargodha: Agriculture experts issued a set of guidelines for handling wheat crops during ongoing cold and dry weather conditions and advised farmers to avoid unnecessary application of Urea fertilizers pleading that the crop was now 45 days old and Urea could trigger vegetative growth only.

Agriculture spokesman said in a statement on Thursday that vegetative growth caused by unnecessary Urea application would increase the plant height which may fall in case of speedy winds.

The spokesman said that if the crop condition was better and the leaf colour was dark green then farmers should not apply Urea.

However, if the wheat crop was weak and the leaf colour was yellow then farmers can apply Urea but only after consulting agriculture officials.

In wheat fields where crops had turned yellow due to humidity, farmers should apply a spray of NPK i.e. three kilograms of N-20, P-20 and k-20 in 100 litres of water per acre.

In case of the emergence of wheat disease, brown and yellow Rust, farmers should contact agriculture officials to get advice on what spray they should apply for remedy.
