Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has said that it is often said that governments cannot perform in their first year, but the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has raised the flag of success in both the centre and Punjab within a year.

She said that the Punjab government has delivered results in its very first year, sending a message to all provinces to compete in the politics of service. When people have nothing to say, they only resort to abuses.

She expressed these views during a press conference at DGPR, alongside Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq. She said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the performance of the Punjab government in the past year is a remarkable example of success and public service. February holds special significance in the country's history, she added. After the February 8 elections, the country was on the verge of default, but on February 26, Maryam Nawaz took the oath as chief minister and brought stability to Punjab.

Azma Bukhari further said that the love and success Maryam Nawaz has achieved in one year is unprecedented. She added that the inauguration of road projects in Narowal turned into a public rally, reflecting the people's support for the PML-N and the Punjab chief minister. The same analysts and journalists, who once claimed that the PML-N was finished, are now saying that "our rallies are unsuccessful, exhibiting their double standards". Maryam Nawaz has launched more than 90 historic projects for the people of Punjab during the last one year.

She added that if any province requires a performance report of Maryam Nawaz's 365 days in office, the provincial government is willing to send it as a gift.

The information minister further said that the PML-N's performance is their distinguishing mark and it will continue to be. The upcoming year will be even better than the previous one. Their only priority is public service, added Azma.

Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq said the 'Clean Punjab' initiative benefits both the rich and the poor equally. They have earned the public's trust through cleanliness and infrastructure development. He mentioned that master plans for all districts of Punjab are nearing approval. Soon, every city in Punjab will have a modern system for sanitation and sewerage. In Lahore's development plan, all informal settlements will also be provided with proper sewerage and other development works, added the minister.

He said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz assigned them the task of ensuring cleanliness in all cities and villages. As of today, 140 out of Punjab's 154 tehsils have been outsourced, while waste management companies are operating directly in the remaining 14 tehsils.

Zeeshan Rafiq added that cleanliness has benefited the economy and the people of Punjab. Under the 'Clean Punjab' project, more than 125,000 jobs will be provided, and so far, over 91,000 jobs have already been given.

Lahore: The Punjab Judicial Academy (PJA) successfully completed a specialized training course titled "Collaboration on Professional Exchange Training Program" for 37 additional district and sessions judges from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The program, designed to enhance judicial expertise and promote inter-provincial collaboration, featured extensive training sessions conducted by judicial experts. In addition, the guest judges visited the Punjab Forensic Science Authority and Fountain House as part of an informative study tour, followed by a formal dinner.

PJA Director General Justice (Retd.) Sardar Ahmad Naeem presided over the concluding session. While addressing the participants, he emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange in the judicial system. "Experience sharing between judges of different provinces is crucial for promoting best judicial practices," he remarked.

Zia-ur-Rehman, Dean of Faculty at Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), appreciated the initiative and highlighted the significance of sharing strategies for effective case management. "This collaboration will be instrumental in ensuring the speedy resolution of disputes and improving judicial efficiency in both provinces," he noted.

Lahore: Punjab Livestock Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said on Thursday that the livestock sector had made exemplary development in less than one year.

He said this while presiding over the meeting which reviewed progress of Punjab Chief Minister's Livestock card, distribution of livestock assets among rural women of South Punjab and other projects here.

He said that through Livestock card Rs 27,000 were being given to calves cattle breeder farmers for each animal.

In two years 400,000 animals would be given to maximum 80,000 cattle breeders, he said and added that till now 13,181 livestock cards had been received by farmers.

He further said that no negligence would be tolerated with regard to timely delivery of livestock cards to farmers.

Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani said that regional directors would send report based on data of tagged animals.

He said that arrangements should be made to ensure vaccination of tagged animals.

The minister said that instructions had been issued to get re verification of tagged animals from urban units.

Till now 826 animals had been distributed among women, he said and directed to prepare strategy to control foot and mouth disease among animals to implement it.

Punjab Livestock Secretary Saqib Ali and others also attended the meeting.

Lahore: At least 17 people were killed, and 1,627 others were injured in 1,390 road traffic crashes (RTCs) across Punjab in the past 24 hours.

Among the injured, 661 individuals with serious injuries were shifted to various hospitals, while 966 with minor injuries received treatment on-site from rescue medical teams.

The analysis revealed that the victims included 926 drivers, 63 underage drivers, 175 pedestrians, and 543 passengers. The data also highlighted that Lahore reported the highest number of accidents with 322 accidents, affecting 390 people. Faisalabad followed with 92 accidents and 109 victims, while Multan ranked third with 91 accidents and 114 victims.

The vehicles involved in these accidents included 1,241 motorbikes, 77 auto-rickshaws, 151 motorcars, 42 vans, 21 passenger buses, 38 trucks, and 124 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts.

Lahore: The Punjab Home Department has regularised the services of 40 contract employees of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.

Punjab Secretary Home Noor-ul-Amin issued the regularisation orders and extended his congratulations.

According to the spokesperson for the Home Department, these employees in grade 1 to 5 had been working on contract basis since the establishment of the Punjab Forensic Science Agency. They include drivers, security guards, dispatch riders, naib qasids (office assistants), gardeners and sweepers.
