Chiniot: Muhammad Wala Police arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered 2,440 grams of hashish from their possession during a raid conducted on a tip-off, police said on Sunday.
According to police, SHO Muhammad Wala Sub-Inspector Arsalan Zafar, ASI Azhar Iqbal and SI Taswar Abbas, along with a police team, carried out the operation and apprehended the suspects. The recovered narcotics were taken into custody, while cases under relevant provisions of the narcotics law were registered against the accused at Muhammad Wala Police Station.
District Police Officer (DPO) Chiniot Dr. Naveed Atif said practical measures were being taken across the district to protect the younger generation from the menace of drugs. He said a special campaign against drug peddlers was underway and police were taking strict action against those involved in the illegal trade.
The DPO said effective and quality investigation of narcotics cases was being ensured so that the accused could be brought to justice. He urged citizens to extend full cooperation to police, stressing that public support was essential for the complete eradication of drugs from society.
