CM Naqvi visits police stations, suspends SHO Shafiqabad

LAHORE:Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi visited various police stations from late night till early in the morning on Saturday.

He inspected Police Station Factory Area Sheikhupura and Police Station Shafiqabad Bund Road. He expressed severe indignation over non-registration of an FIR of mobile theft and dacoity incidents within 24 hours and ordered for immediate removal of SHO from his post.

He asserted that a case should be registered immediately after receiving an application within the stipulated time period, adding that no delay in cases registration would be tolerated.

The CM issued directions to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in this regard. He also reviewed the progress being made on the citizens’ applications at the front desk. CM Naqvi reviewed the front desk, Malkhana, Moharar room, investigation room and other sections. He inquired from the accused detained in lock-ups about their cases. An accused detained in the Shafiqabad police station lock-up burst into tears while relating his story about his being unable to return the interest amount on a loan and arrest by the police.

The CM consoled him and assured him of justice provision. He announced paying the said amount and directed the person concerned to fulfill legal requirements for his release. He ordered for launching a crackdown on those who indulge in doing usury business. The women visitors present in the Shafiqabad Police Station informed CM Mohsin Naqvi about their cases.

The CM ordered legal action on the application of women. He ordered for shifting the Shafiqabad police station Malkhana to a better place. Provincial Information Minister Amir Mir, Inspector General of Police and CCPO also accompanied him.
