Lahore: The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) has foiled an attempt to smuggle cocaine to Saudi Arabia by arresting a suspected drug-trafficker and recovering 108 cocaine capsules during an operation in Rawalpindi.
According to a CNF spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Shahidullah Khan, was arrested at the Fateh Jang-Tarnol Interchange after officials intercepted a suspicious vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 108 cocaine capsules, which, along with the vehicle allegedly used for smuggling, were seized.
The spokesperson said the recovered cocaine was estimated to be worth Rs43. 2 million. He said further investigation was under way to identify and apprehend other members of the alleged smuggling network.
The spokesperson said the Punjab CNF was expanding its operations against drug traffickers following the successful interception of the consignment. He described the action as an important step towards protecting young people from the menace of drugs.
He added that the crackdown on drug dealers and their facilitators would be intensified through coordinated efforts, reiterating the Punjab CNF’s commitment to combating narcotics trafficking with the support of society.
