Multan: Continuing with the tradition of paying tribute to eminent personalities associated with art, literature, education and research in a novel way, Commissioner Multan Amir Kareem Khan on Monday installed a commemorative plaque outside the residence of Prof Dr Hameed Raza Siddiqui.
The renowned educationist, researcher and author Prof Dr Hameed Raza Siddiqui, who was recognized for his outstanding academic and literary services, received the commissioner upon his arrival at his residence.
Former Punjab Governor Malik Rafiq Rajwana paid glowing tribute to the eminent scholar saying that Mr Siddiqui has earned this honour. He also heaped praise on the scholar for his attachment and love for Ideology of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Khan said that Prof Siddiqui had rendered valuable services in the fields of education, research, teaching and literature.
His academic and research contributions had played an important role in highlighting the scholarly
identity of Multan and the region, he said adding that the professor had dedicated his life to knowledge,
research and the intellectual and academic development of students.
He said that such distinguished personalities were a source of pride for the region.
Amir Kareem Khan said, the services of artists, writers, teachers, poets and researchers constituted a bright chapter in the history of Multan and added it deserved to be acknowledged and preserved for future generations.
The initiative to install honorary plaques outside the homes of prominent literary, artistic and academic personalities is aimed at recognizing their contributions and highlighting Multan’s rich cultural and intellectual heritage.
Officers, men of letters, social figures and people from different walks of life also attended the ceremony.
