Kidnapped man rescued after alleged torture over theft suspicion


Burewala: A man was allegedly abducted and tortured for two days over suspicion of stealing sesame seeds in Chak Cheena, within the limits of Saddar Mailsi police station.



According to the complainants, Maqbool Ahmed, son of Atta Muhammad, was allegedly taken from his house and kept at a private tube-well, where he was subjected to torture. A video of the alleged incident has also surfaced.



The victims alleged that Javed alias Jedi Kharal, Abbas Bodla, Akram Lak and Saghar Kharal, along with others, were involved in the incident. Following a call to Police Emergency 15, police reportedly conducted a raid, recovered Maqbool Ahmed and arrested the alleged suspects.



The complainants further alleged that the suspects were later released due to political pressure. They demanded that senior authorities take notice of the incident and ensure legal action against those responsible.



Police said further investigation into the incident was underway.
