Lahore: The Lahore district administration on Wednesday organised a Kashmir solidarity rally to mark Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and condemning India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019.
The rally was led by Lahore Division Commissioner Nauman Yousaf and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz, and attended by officers of the district administration along with citizens from various walks of life. Participants raised slogans in support of the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination.
Addressing the participants, Commissioner Nauman Yousaf urged the international community to play its due role over India’s August 5, 2019 actions, saying the conscience of the world could not remain silent over the plight of the Kashmiri people. He said the hearts of Pakistanis beat with their Kashmiri brethren and that both the district administration and the public stood shoulder to shoulder with them in their just struggle for freedom. He added that solidarity rallies being held across the city reflected Pakistan’s enduring commitment to the people of Kashmir.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz termed India’s August 5 move an unlawful assault on the rights of the Kashmiri people. He said the sacrifices of Kashmiris would not go in vain and expressed confidence that freedom was their ultimate destiny. He added that the rally was a strong manifestation of support for the Kashmiris’ internationally recognised right to self-determination.
