Commissioner orders expedited rehabilitation of Metro bus alternative routes


Faisalabad: Divisional Commissioner Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh has directed the Highways and Municipal Corporation authorities to accelerate the repair and rehabilitation of alternative routes currently being utilized during the construction of the Metrobus project.



During an inspection of the project sites, the Commissioner set a one-week deadline for the completion of the road from Jaranwala Road to Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF). He emphasized that the administration must prioritize providing quality facilities to citizens while ensuring complete transparency in all development works.



Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh further directed the Highways authorities to deploy additional workforce to ensure the restoration of the road from Susan Road to GCWUF within the next few days. He stressed that every possible effort must be made to minimize the inconveniences faced by commuters due to the ongoing construction activities.



To address environmental concerns, the Commissioner instructed the relevant authorities to ensure regular water sprinkling on the affected road stretches to control dust and mitigate pollution. He also reviewed the patchwork conducted alongside the Metro track on Jaranwala Road and ordered a continued crackdown on encroachments to maintain unobstructed traffic flow on alternative routes.



Additionally, the Highways Department has finalized a work plan for the rehabilitation of the road leading to GCWUF, and improvement efforts on the link road between the university and Susan Road are currently underway to ensure a safer and smoother commute for the public. the spokesperson added.
