Lahore: City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) have finalised special arrangements for upcoming Independence Day celebrations, with additional personnel to be deployed at major event venues, historical sites and recreational spots across the city.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, directions had been issued to display the national flag on all official vehicles and motorcycles of the traffic police, besides hoisting national and departmental flags at government buildings.
He said additional traffic personnel would be deployed at Independence Day celebration venues, including Greater Iqbal Park, Wagah and other historical and recreational places, to ensure smooth traffic flow and facilitate citizens.
The CTO said special measures were being taken to curb one-wheeling, hooliganism, zigzag driving and racing during the Independence Day celebrations. He warned that cases would be registered against those involved in hooliganism, road blocking, road rage, removing motorcycle baffles and silencers.
Both one-wheelers and motorcycle mechanics involved in facilitating the dangerous activity would face legal action, he added. Shirazi further said that vehicles, motorcycles and rickshaws driven by persons under 18 years of age would be impounded for three days.
He urged citizens, particularly young motorcyclists, to celebrate Independence Day responsibly and follow traffic rules.
