Islamabad: At least five persons were killed and several others were injured when a powerful explosion rocked the G-7/2 sector of Islamabad in the early hours of Sunday, causing panic in the surrounding area.
According to details, the police informed that, on the directives of the Islamabad DC, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Sahibzada reached the scene and confirmed that an investigation is in progress, while rescue teams have successfully evacuated all injured individuals, PTV News Channel reported.
Initial reports suggest that the blast was caused by a gas cylinder explosion in Street No. 23 of the G-7/2 area, which claimed five lives on the spot.
The explosion led to the collapse of a house, trapping several members of the family under the rubble.
Further reports indicate that three houses were also damaged in the incident, while at least 15 people sustained injuries.
Rescue teams promptly arrived at the site and are continuing efforts to evacuate those buried beneath the debris.
