Hyderabad: A meeting of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) on PIFTAC (NPVE) and Interfaith Harmony was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Zain-ul-Abideen Memon here on Thursday at the Committee Room of the Deputy Commissioner Complex.
According to a handout, the meeting was attended by officials from the district administration, police, women development department, social welfare department and representatives of various religious and social organizations.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the interfaith harmony committee was an open forum aimed at bringing together all segments of society to jointly counter extremism.
He explained that PIFTAC was a newly dedicated platform established to combat religious and social extremism and to safeguard national security, and through this forum, people of all sects and backgrounds were being united on a common cause.
He further stated that whenever negative propaganda against Pakistan and its armed forces emerges, religious scholars and community leaders should use mosques, sermons and public gatherings to promote the message of national unity and security. He added that in 2025, the armed forces of Pakistan defeated the enemy and achieved victory in the Markae-e-Haq, which was a matter of pride for the entire nation.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the meeting that there are 194 madaris in Hyderabad district, of which 16 were unregistered. He directed that the registration of these madaris be completed at the earliest, assuring that the district administration would extend full legal and administrative support to resolve their issues. He also said that if madaris require any facilities or assistance, the relevant departments will be engaged to address their needs, and monthly coordination meetings will be held in this regard.
Religious and social representatives suggested holding regular meetings with madaris administrators and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, tolerance and harmony through mosques, sermons and educational institutions. Participants noted that the registration of madaris would improve administrative coordination, and all stakeholders pledged to work collectively to resolve city-level issues and ensure that Hyderabad remains peaceful and stable.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed that, as in the past, all schools of thought in Hyderabad will continue to resolve religious and social issues through mutual consultation and tolerance, while further strengthening interfaith harmony in the city.
