Sargodha Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Thursday laid the foundation stone for reconstruction and expansion of the mosque at the District Council office.
Chief Officer District Council Asad Hariya, mosque prayer leader Mufti Abdul Rehman, other officers and District Council staff were present on the occasion.
The newly reconstructed mosque would be a two-storey building with a total capacity of around 550 worshippers. The ground floor would accommodate 300 worshippers, while 250 people will be able to offer prayers on the first floor.
The mosque would be fully air-conditioned to provide worshippers with a comfortable environment and protection from extreme weather conditions.
On the occasion, Mufti Abdul Rehman led a special prayer marking the formal commencement of reconstruction work and prayed for the timely completion and blessings of the mosque, as well as the welfare of District Council officers and employees.
