Hyderabad: Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Danish Zakir has said that no child should be deprived of polio drops during ongoing polio eradication campaigns, while the shortcomings and issues identified during the campaign should be addressed promptly to make future campaigns more effective and successful.
He directed the concerned officers to conduct a detailed review of the polio campaign results and ensure the identification, follow-up and vaccination of children who were missed.
He expressed these views while presiding over the district review meeting held after the September 2026 SNIDs Polio Campaign. The meeting was held at the DC Office, Matiari. During the meeting, representative of the health department Dr. Ali Raza gave a detailed briefing on the September polio campaign and informed the participants about the performance of teams, child coverage and other related matters.
Dr. Ali Raza informed that during the campaign in district Matiari, overall coverage remained better. He said that the performance of polio teams, child coverage, identification of missed children, follow-up and vaccination along with other aspects of the campaign were also reviewed in detail.
He briefed the meeting about issues faced in the field, the performance of teams and measures taken to further improve coverage, as well as the future strategy to ensure access to and vaccination of missed children.
Deputy Commissioner said that effective coordination and mutual cooperation among the health department, district administration and other concerned institutions should be maintained for the eradication of polio. He directed that polio teams should be effectively monitored in the field and that issues arising during the campaign should be resolved promptly so that the results of future polio campaigns could be further improved.
He further said that the eradication of polio was a national responsibility and that all concerned institutions must perform their duties with dedication, responsibility and mutual cooperation for its complete elimination.
The meeting was attended by DHO Matiari Dr. Zahid Sadar, ADC-II Amjad Jamali, AC Matiari Abdul Wahab Memon, AC Hala Dr. Mazahir Ali, AC Saeedabad Mitha Khan and other concerned officers of the district.
