Police arrest 20 drug peddlers, recover over 8kg hashish

Sukkur: The Shikarpur police have intensified their crackdown against drug dealers as part of the ‘Eliminate Drugs, Save Lives’ campaign, arresting 20 drug peddlers and recovering more than eight kilograms of hashish, 3,055 packets of gutka and six bottles of liquor during a two-week operation.



According to a performance report of the City Sub-Division Police, the crackdown was carried out from September 14 to September 28, 2026, on the directives of SSP Shikarpur Muhammad Kaleem.



According to the police spokesperson, under the supervision of ASP City Muhammad Asif, police teams conducted a series of effective operations against elements allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade. A total of 20 suspects were arrested, while 19 cases were registered against them.



Police recovered 8,083 grams of hashish, 3,055 packets of gutka and six bottles of liquor from the possession of the arrested suspects.



Those arrested include Shaukat, Sharjeel, Siraj, Kamran, Riaz, Ashraf Bhutto, Shoaib Sher and others.



The successful operations were carried out by teams led by SHO Stuart Ganj Police Station Khalil Ahmed Rind, SHO Lakhi Der Police Station Bilal Laghari and SHO New Fauj Dari Police Station Shahnawaz Sheikh.



SSP Muhammad Kaleem said there would be no leniency for those who were allegedly putting the future of the younger generation at risk through the drug trade. He said police would deal with elements involved in drug trafficking with an iron hand.



He also urged citizens to cooperate with police in eliminating drugs from society, stressing that ensuring a safe and healthy society was a shared responsibility of all citizens.
