Lahore: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review security, traffic and civic arrangements for Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh Ali Hajveri (RA), directing all departments to ensure the peaceful and orderly observance of the religious events.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of the district administration, police, City Traffic Police, Rescue 1122, the Health Department, WASA, LESCO, Metropolitan Corporation Lahore and other relevant departments.
The DC directed all field teams to remain on duty round-the-clock and said a central control room had been established at the DC Office for continuous monitoring of the arrangements. He said CCTV cameras and walk-through gates had been installed at Data Darbar and along all procession routes under a comprehensive security plan, while police, the district administration and law enforcement agencies would remain fully deployed.
He directed the departments concerned to ensure cleanliness, lighting, safe drinking water and sanitation at the shrine and along procession routes. He said WASA, the Suthra Punjab Programme and Lahore Metropolitan Corporation teams would remain on high alert, while the City Traffic Police had prepared a comprehensive traffic management plan to facilitate commuters.
DC Muhammad Ali Ejaz said medical camps established by the Health Department and Rescue 1122 would remain operational throughout the events, with adequate medicines, medical equipment and staff available. He added that LESCO teams had also been deployed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.
The DC said the district administration was maintaining close coordination with scholars of all schools of thought to promote religious harmony. He urged citizens to cooperate with the administration to help maintain peace and order, adding that the control room would remain functional round the clock to respond promptly to any emergency.
