DG WASA directed to provide staff for de-silting, machinery


Lahore: A video link meeting of WASA Punjab was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin on Sunday.



DG WASA Punjab Tayyab Farid and MDs of all districts gave a briefing on the preparations and performance of the districts.



Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin said that now not only operations, the office staff will also closely monitor the field operations. Uniforms will be mandatory for WASA staff, and monitoring will be done through geolocation.



The Minister for Housing Punjab made it clear that the de-silting process will not stop now, and directed DG WASA to provide additional staff and machinery immediately. In any emergency, the machinery of the adjoining districts and Lahore WASA will provide full support.



Special staff of all MDs will submit reports on drainage and manholes from low-lying areas. All disposal stations, machinery, generators and special complaints cells will be kept fully functional.



Delay in drainage during rains will not be tolerated at all. Instructions have also been issued to ensure immediate coordination and joint action between all relevant institutions in emergency situations.
