Dist admin seizes over 40 illegal petrol units during crackdown

Multan: The district administration launched a major crackdown on illegal petrol units across the city, taking more than 40 unauthorised units into custody during a special operation on Sunday. The operation was conducted on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Dr Faisal Saleem, with teams of Civil Defence and the PERA force taking action against individuals involved in the illegal sale and storage of petroleum products at various locations.

During the crackdown, several illegal petrol units were seized and premises being used for the unlawful business were sealed. Equipment and petroleum products were also taken into custody. According to the district administration, the operation was aimed at protecting citizens’ lives and property and preventing the unsafe sale and handling of highly inflammable petroleum products.

DC Dr Faisal Saleem said illegal petrol units posed a serious threat to human lives and public property, warning that even a minor lapse at such locations could trigger a major fire or other disaster.

He said no one would be allowed to put citizens’ lives at risk and directed the relevant departments to continue action against illegal businesses under a zero-tolerance policy. The deputy commissioner further ordered the authorities to expand the operation, identify all illegal petrol units and ensure immediate action against violators to prevent potential accidents and loss of life and property.
