Nwabshah: District-wide crackdown against illegal wheat hoarding is underway on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani.The initiative was taken in compliance with the directives of Government of Sindh.
The operations are being led by Assistant Commissioners across the district.
In this regard, Assistant Commissioners, in collaboration with officials of the Food Department, conducted joint inspections of several warehouses in different areas from July 8 to July 12. During these operations, 15,218 bags of illegally hoarded wheat were seized.
The ongoing operations resulted in the seizure of 450 wheat bags in Nawabshah, 13,000 bags in Daur, and 1,768 bags in Qazi Ahmed.
Deputy Commissioner directed concerned officers that illegal wheat hoarding would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He emphasized that indiscriminate action must continue against those involved to ensure the availability of wheat and flour to public at reasonable prices.
DC said that, in accordance with the directives of Government of Sindh, all concerned departments should work in close coordination to eliminate illegal wheat hoarding and ensure a transparent supply of wheat in the market so that public does not face any inconvenience.
