Rawalpindi: The District Price Committee Rawalpindi met on Monday under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr Hassan Tariq to review prices of essential commodities.
Committee members, representatives of civil society and traders’ organisations attended the meeting, which focused on pulses, rice, chickpeas, milk, yoghurt, meat and other food items, as well as the overall supply and demand situation in the market.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Tariq said the government was taking serious measures to ensure the public could access essential items at reasonable and affordable rates. He directed that sufficient stocks of all necessary commodities be maintained in the market and that fixed prices be strictly enforced.
He urged the business community to cooperate fully with the government to maximise relief for citizens. Civil society and traders’ representatives also presented suggestions on price stability and supply management.
Dr Tariq warned that hoarding, profiteering and violations of official price lists would not be tolerated.
He said the district administration would strengthen monitoring and enforcement to protect consumers.
