Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Saturday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP).
CCoP approved the Restructuring Plan for Batch-I DISCOs (FESCO, GEPCO and IESCO), including the carving out of DISCOs’ land assets to the government-owned Power Holding Company, as a holding company.
DPM/FM directed the expeditious implementation of the plan, stressing that the government’s privatisation initiative will help improve the quality of service provided by DISCOs and reduce losses.
The plan will be implemented through a Scheme of Arrangement (SoA) to be filed with the SECP.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Adviser to PM on Privatisation Muhammad Ali, MoS for Finance and Railways, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Secretary Power, Secretary Privatisation Commission, Secretary Privatisation, Secretary EAD, and senior officials from the Ministry of Finance, FBR and other relevant departments.
