Battagram:District Police Officer Battagram Qamar Hayat Khan (PSP) has directed Muharrars of police stations to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of official records, adherence to legal procedures and prompt redressal of public complaints.
He issued these directions while chairing a meeting with Muharrars of police stations here Wednesday, during which the timely completion of police records, effective delivery of services, legal matters and professional responsibilities of Muharrars were reviewed in detail.
The DPO said that the Muharrar is the first point of contact for citizens visiting a police station and, therefore, must maintain a polite, responsible and people-friendly attitude. He directed that every citizen should be treated with respect, heard patiently and provided relief at the earliest possible time.
Qamar Hayat Khan directed the Muharrars to maintain FIRs, daily diaries, case property records, lock-up records, arrest and release registers and other relevant documents accurately, completely and in accordance with rules and regulations. He warned that negligence or carelessness in maintaining official records would not be tolerated.
He said effective policing depends not only on police action but also on compliance with legal procedures and proper documentation. All cases and police actions should be reported accurately and promptly in accordance with legal requirements to avoid complications during investigations and court proceedings.
The DPO further directed Muharrars to play an active role in police station administration, public facilitation, fulfillment of legal requirements and timely provision of police services.
He said that respect for citizens, integrity in following the law and responsibility in the discharge of duties were the foundations of effective policing.
