Kohat:Police on Wednesday repulsed a terrorist attack on the Shadi Pur police checkpost in Kohat, forcing the attackers to flee following an intense exchange of fire, police officials said.
According to police, heavily armed terrorists launched an attack on the checkpost with sustained gunfire. The personnel deployed there responded promptly and engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat. Four policemen sustained injuries during the exchange and were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, where their condition was reported to be stable and out of danger.
Following the attack, security was tightened across the area and a search operation was launched to trace and apprehend the fleeing attackers. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat Irfan Tariq and District Police Officer (DPO) Kohat SSP Rai Mazhar Iqbal visited the DHQ Hospital and inquired about the health of the injured policemen. They also appreciated their courage and directed the hospital administration to provide them with the best possible medical treatment.
The RPO and DPO later visited the Shadi Pur police checkpost to inspect the site and review security arrangements and the operational readiness of the force. The senior officers reaffirmed Kohat Police’s resolve to protect the lives and property of citizens, saying such attacks could not undermine the morale of the force, which would continue efforts to counter terrorist threats with determination.
