Lahore: The Housing Department has drafted a strict law to prevent the theft of manhole covers across Punjab.
Housing Department sources told reporter that under the proposed law, a fine of Rs1 million to Rs10 million has been proposed for gangs, factory owners or groups involved in the theft of manhole covers.
Similarly, the accused may also face a minimum of one year and a maximum of three years in prison.
A fine of Rs1 million to Rs3 million and one to three years in prison have been recommended for scrap dealers involved in the purchase and sale of manhole covers.
