Dera ismail khan: The district administration has launched emergency measures to control river erosion in the Kacha area of Jhok Basharat following complaints from local residents and reports of a breach in the kacha band caused by the flow of the River Indus in Dera Ismail Khan.
Responding promptly to the situation, the administration mobilised machinery and relevant teams to the affected site. Under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Dera Dr Hamid, the teams, with the cooperation of local residents, immediately repaired and restored the damaged portion of the kacha band.
The emergency repair helped reduce the intensity of water erosion and provided immediate relief to the affected area, officials said.
The district administration is continuing to closely monitor the situation in the Kacha area to minimise possible damage from river erosion and ensure a timely response to any further developments.
Meanwhile, a free medical camp was also established at the site to provide essential healthcare facilities to residents of the affected and adjoining areas. Medical staff provided necessary treatment and healthcare services to local people.
The administration said emergency measures were being undertaken on an extraordinary basis in the Kacha areas to protect, as far as possible, the lands, properties and crops of local residents from river erosion.
It further said field teams would remain deployed and the situation would continue to be monitored closely to ensure an effective and immediate response in case of any further erosion or damage.
