Lahore: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to bring the entire networks of human traffickers and hawala-hundi mafia to justice, besides ensuring visible results of a crackdown against criminal gangs.
The minister issued these directives while chairing a special meeting during his visit to the FIA Zonal Office Lahore, where he reviewed the performance of the office and progress on its upgradation project.
Mohsin Naqvi directed that the upgradation project of the FIA Zonal Office Lahore be completed at the earliest. He said all possible facilities and resources were being provided to FIA officers and officials and more would be made available to improve their working capacity.
‘Crackdown against criminal gangs is your responsibility and results should be visible,’ the minister said.
During the meeting, approval was also given to replace old cameras installed at immigration counters at airports across the country with modern technology-equipped cameras to strengthen immigration monitoring and security.
The meeting also took a principled decision to utilize the services of the PakID app for registration of complaints, aiming to facilitate citizens and improve the complaint-handling mechanism.
Director FIA Lahore Cap (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia briefed the meeting on progress on the upgradation project and the office’s performance.
According to the briefing, 1,670 FIRs were registered during the last one year, while 4,000 out of 5,000 inquiries were disposed of.
The briefing further revealed that 295 proclaimed offenders had been arrested during the period.
FIA Director General Dr Usman Anwar, FIA Director Cap (retd) Muhammad Ali Zia and all circle in-charges attended the meeting.
