Faisalabad: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry on Tuesday said that FDA would celebrate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day (I-Day) with national fervor and patriotic spirit while renewing its commitment to play a meaningful role in development, prosperity, peace, stability and strength of the country.

He said that FDA had planned a series of programs and ceremonies to mark Independence Day, with special arrangements being made to highlight significance of freedom and strengthen spirit of national unity among its officers and employees.

He said that FDA Complex and buildings of its subordinate offices had been tastefully illuminated with electric lights in connection with Independence Day celebrations, creating a festive atmosphere ahead of August 14.

He said that this year’s celebrations also carried special significance as the country was marking the occasion with celebrations related to the mutual Makkah defense agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.

In this connection, national flags of the three brotherly countries had also been displayed at FDA Complex and other subordinate offices, he added. He said that the flags symbolized brotherly ties, mutual trust and shared commitment among the three countries.

Recalling the sacrifices behind Pakistan’s independence, Muhammad Asif Chaudhry said that freedom was outcome of a historic struggle and countless sacrifices. Therefore, Independence Day provided an opportunity not only to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan Movement and national heroes but also to remind every citizen of their responsibility towards national development, he added.

He stressed that the true value of independence could be realized by promoting unity, discipline, national cohesion and a strong sense of responsibility. He said that a special prayer ceremony would also be held at the mosque of FDA Complex on this occasion. ‘Fateha’ would be offered for departed souls of the martyrs of Pakistan Movement while special prayers would be made for progress, prosperity, peace, security of the country and strengthening of national unity, he added.

The FDA DG further said that central Independence Day ceremony, featuring the hoisting of national flag and cutting of Independence Day cake, would be held at Sports Complex in FDA City. FDA officers and employees would participate in the ceremony where a salute would be presented to national flag and the participants would renew their pledge of loyalty and commitment to Pakistan, he added.

He said that FDA officers and employees had always celebrated national days with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor, adding that special arrangements had again been made this year to highlight spirit of patriotism through Independence Day activities. The DG urged all FDA officers and employees to participate actively in the celebrations and further strengthen their resolve to perform their official responsibilities with a spirit of national service.
