Faisalabad: FESCO Chief Engineer Operations Muhammad Munawar Khan has called for a sharper focus on consumer service, system reliability and field safety, directing the officers and employees to adopt a courteous, respectful and customer-friendly approach while ensuring prompt resolution of electricity complaints and strict action against power theft.
Addressing a meeting of Superintending Engineers of FESCO’s Jhang, Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh and Mianwali circles, he said that provision of the best possible services to electricity consumers and immediate redressal of their complaints were among FESCO’s foremost priorities, and no negligence in this regard would be tolerated.
During meeting, the chief engineer reviewed measures for improving the efficiency of the electricity distribution system, timely maintenance of transmission lines and other installations, upgradation of transformers and enhancement of the performance of feeders connected with grid stations.
He directed the officers to ensure effective field monitoring and practical measures for improving the distribution system and providing permanent solutions to problems faced by consumers.
Muhammad Munawar Khan instructed the officers to formulate an effective strategy for immediate rectification of technical faults to ensure continuous and uninterrupted power supply. He stressed that complaints received from consumers must be addressed on a priority basis and no complaint should be unnecessarily kept pending.
He also placed strong emphasis on occupational safety, directing all field officers and line staff to strictly observe safety principles and ensure 100 per cent compliance with FESCO’s safety policy and standard operating procedures. He said that strict implementation of safety measures was essential to prevent both fatal and non-fatal accidents. He made it clear that negligence or violation of safety protocols would not be acceptable under any circumstances.
Regarding the campaign against electricity theft, Muhammad Munawar Khan issued clear directions for immediate and indiscriminate action against power thieves. He ordered that FIRs be registered promptly against those involved in electricity theft, illegal connections be disconnected and effective measures be taken to recover outstanding amounts linked to power theft. He further directed officers not to succumb to any pressure while taking action against electricity theft and to ensure that all cases were pursued to their logical conclusion in accordance with the law.
He urged FESCO officers to perform their duties with responsibility, integrity and professional commitment so that FESCO consumers could be provided with reliable, safe and improved electricity services.
During meeting, the concerned Superintending Engineers briefed the chief engineer about power supply arrangements, the condition and performance of distribution networks and feeders, maintenance activities and other key operational matters in their respective circles.
SE Jhang Circle Mehr Muhammad Afzal Kathia, SE Sargodha Circle Abrar Ahmad, SE Mianwali Circle Bilal Iqbal, SE Toba Tek Singh Ismatullah, XENs and other concerned officers from the respective circles were present in the meeting.
