Foolproof security plan finalized for Haji Sher Diwan’s annual Urs

District

Vehari: The authorities have finalized a comprehensive security plan for the annual Urs of the Sufi saint, Hazrat Haji Sher Diwan, scheduled to be held from July 9 to 11.

Deputy Commissioner, Khalid Javed Goraya and District Police Officer (DPO) Tasawar Iqbal visited the shrine to review security and administrative arrangements and held a meeting with the organizers.

The official sources said the police and traffic personnel would be deployed at inner and outer security cordons, rooftops, the graveyard, langar areas, wells, water distribution points and other key locations throughout the three-day religious gathering.

The special arrangements have also been made to regulate traffic flow and parking, they added.

Under the security plan, a three-tier security system will be enforced at the shrine’s entry points.

The visitors will undergo screening through walk-through gates and metal detectors, while CCTV cameras will monitor the premises continuously.

Speaking during the visit, DPO Tasawar Iqbal said Sufi shrines promote peace, love and brotherhood, adding that ensuring the safety and security of devotees attending the Urs remained the police’s top priority.
