Peshawar: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday visited Imran Khan Cricket Stadium to review arrangements for the launch ceremony of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champion League (KCL).
Provincial Assembly PPP Parliamentary Leader Ahmad Kundi was also present on the occasion.
The Governor inspected preparations for the KCL launching ceremony scheduled to be held on July 18 at 6: 00 pm.
Talking to media persons, Governor Kundi said that for the first time the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champion League was being launched, which would not only promote cricket in the province but also help revive sports grounds and contribute towards creating a healthier society.
He expressed gratitude to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for approving the KCL project and said the league would provide new opportunities to young cricket talent of the province.
Governor also appreciated the cooperation and support of the provincial government and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi in this regard.
He said the holding of KCL would open doors for international cricket in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and added that he had requested PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to establish an international cricket stadium in Abbottabad.
The Governor invited the people of Peshawar, including mothers, sisters, sons, brothers, children and elders, to attend the KCL launch ceremony at 6: 00 pm on Saturday.
He said a musical concert would also be arranged on the occasion and people would be able to enjoy both the entertainment programme and the launch ceremony of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Champion League.
