Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a petition regarding the ratification of the appointments of judges by the President of Pakistan until the Law Ministry submits the relevant notification before the court.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition filed by Advocate Luqman Zafar. Advocate Zahid Asif Chaudhry appeared on behalf of the petitioner, while Additional Attorney General Rashid Hafeez and other officials represented the federation.
During the hearing, the Additional Attorney General informed the court that a development had taken place in the matter and that the President had ratified the appointments of all the judges.
He said the President had given approval to the appointments of judges to all the high courts. Advocate Zahid Asif Chaudhry told the court that the development had occurred following the court’s intervention. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked that the court was only performing its duty to decide matters in accordance with the Constitution and law.
The Additional Attorney General said that once the President’s ratification was received, the Ministry of Law would immediately issue the relevant notification. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir directed the law officer to submit the notification before the court once issued. The court adjourned further proceedings until submission of the Ministry of Law’s notification.
