Attock: Renowned religious scholar Hujjat-ul-Islam Allama Hashim Raza Ghadeeri has said that understanding the Holy Quran requires not only comprehension of its apparent words but also an insight into its spiritual teachings and deeper meanings. Addressing a Majlis-e-Aza at Imambargah Panjtani, Attock City on Sunday , held to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS), he stressed the need for Muslims to respect each other’s sacred personalities and beliefs to counter sectarian tensions and promote unity and harmony. Hundreds of mourners attended the gathering.
Highlighting the life, character and teachings of Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS), Allama Ghadeeri said his conduct and character reflected the noble personality and teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He said following the path of Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS) was, in essence, a continuation of following the Holy Prophet (PBUH), which held the key to success for Muslims in this world and the Hereafter.
He paid tribute to the oppressed Imam, saying that even while enduring the agony of poisoning, he kept alive the remembrance of his oppressed grandfather Imam Hussain (AS) and preserved the light of guidance amid darkness.
He also said Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS) was martyred through poisoning and belonged to the sacred household whose members sacrificed their lives at Karbala in defence of the religion of Allah. The scholar urged Muslims to maintain a strong spiritual and practical bond with the Holy Quran and Ahl al-Bayt (AS), saying that adherence to their teachings could guide believers towards success in both worlds.
At the conclusion of the Majlis, the Taboot of Imam Hasan al-Askari (AS) was taken out amid emotional scenes. Mourners performed Matam to the recitation of elegies and expressed their condolences and homage to the oppressed Imam (AS). The gathering concluded with Noha Khawani and Matam, followed by the distribution of Niaz among the mourners.
