Kohat: Police in Kohat have intensified efforts to combat violent crime and drug trafficking under the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Shahbaz Ilahi, launching parallel operations focused on a murder investigation and narcotics enforcement.
In this regard on Sunday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rana Tahir visited the scene of a fatal shooting within the jurisdiction of City Police Station, where he inspected the crime scene and reviewed evidence collected by investigators.
Tahir directed officers to conduct a comprehensive investigation, preserve forensic evidence and use all available technical and investigative resources to identify and arrest those responsible.
He later visited the victim’s family at a local hospital to offer condolences and assured them that police were committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice. He also instructed investigators to expedite the case through the use of scientific and technical evidence.
In a separate operation targeting drug trafficking, City Police Station personnel, led by Station House Officer Abdur Rauf Bangash, arrested a suspected drug dealer during a patrol near the Pindi Road Highway.
Police identified the suspect as Jabir Khan, a resident of Lal Garhi in Shahpur. Officers said they recovered 1.52 kilograms of charas and 250 grams of opium during the operation.
A case has been registered against the suspect, and further investigation is underway.
Police said operations against narcotics traffickers would continue as part of an ongoing campaign to curb drug-related crime, adding that no leniency would be shown toward those involved in the illegal drug trade.
