KP assembly inks MoU to promote parliamentary capacity building

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and EduTourism for Unity on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate in areas of parliamentary capacity building, leadership development and start initiatives aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The MoU was signed by secretary KP assembly, Waqar Shah and Muhammad Danyal Akram, Overseas Executive Director Edu Tourism in a ceremony that was attended by Speaker KP assembly, Babar Salim Swat and members provincial assembly.

Addressing the ceremony, KP Speaker said that strengthening the professional capacity of elected representatives and the Assembly Secretariat staff is fundamental to building a strong, effective and modern parliamentary institution.

He added that collaboration with international organizations, leadership development programs and structured study tours would provide assembly members and parliamentary staff with valuable exposure to global practices thereby enhancing legislation, public representation and institutional performance.

The agreement further provides that all activities, nominations and programs undertaken under the MoU shall be subject to the approval and oversight of the KP Assembly Secretariat ensuring transparency, institutional accountability confidentiality and effective coordination between the two parties.
