Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved a 10-day Basant celebration in Lahore, announcing a major festive gift for people of the provincial capital on the arrival of New Year 2027.
Under the Chief Minister’s directions, Basant will be celebrated in Lahore from January 29 to February 7, with a one-day break on February 5 to observe Kashmir Day. Basant was celebrated in Lahore from February 6 to 8 this year after a gap of 25 years.
‘Ten-day Basant celebrations will help promote Punjab’s cultural colours and Lahore’s centuries-old historical tradition across the world,’ Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said.
She directed the authorities to make better arrangements for safety and convenience of citizens
than those made during the previous Basant celebrations.
The CM also called upon all concerned to demonstrate the same sense of duty, responsibility and commitment to ensure protection of human lives and set a new example of safe and responsible celebrations, as was done during the previous Basant.
