Abbottabad: Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has directed relevant departments to intensify action against drug trafficking, illegal weapons, unregistered warehouses, professional begging, cybercrime and other unlawful activities in the district.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting of the District Coordination Committee on Monday, which reviewed the overall law and order situation, implementation of the National Action Plan and Provincial Action Plan, counter-terrorism measures and other administrative matters.
The meeting stressed stronger coordination, information sharing and joint operations among relevant institutions. Progress was also reviewed regarding monitoring of social media and cyberspace, action against hate material, illegal SIMs, unauthorized use of spectrum, hoarding and registration of warehouses.
The deputy commissioner directed the concerned departments to complete the registration of all unregistered warehouses at the earliest and take legal action against violators.
The meeting also discussed measures to prevent drug use in educational institutions, curb professional begging and organized begging networks, address traffic signal-related issues, and take strict action against violations.
The DC directed the district administration, police, Social Welfare Department and other relevant institutions to continue joint operations against professional beggars while ensuring welfare and rehabilitation measures for deserving and vulnerable people.
Expressing concern over online gambling, illegal websites and cybercrime, the meeting directed the relevant institutions to accelerate legal action and launch awareness campaigns to protect young people from such activities.
The DC also ordered consultative meetings with religious scholars to promote religious harmony, strengthen inter-sectarian unity and ensure implementation of the code of conduct.
He further directed all government departments to establish functional complaint cells and ensure prompt resolution of public grievances, saying that effective grievance redressal would help strengthen public confidence in government institutions.
