Lahore: Secretary Local Government and Community Development Punjab Zaid Bin Maqsood chaired a meeting at the DC Office Lahore to review progress on Suthra Punjab Programme, Lahore Development Plan and Punjab Development Programme.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Capt (retd) Muhammad Ali Ejaz, Director General Suthra Punjab Umar Javed and Project Director Punjab Development Programme Shahid Zaman Lak attended the meeting, while deputy commissioners of all districts and managing directors of Suthra Punjab participated through video link.
The deputy commissioner gave a detailed briefing on the Lahore Development Plan, while the DG Suthra Punjab and Project Director Punjab Development Programme briefed the meeting on progress under their respective programmes. Various tasks were assigned to deputy commissioners and managing directors in light of the directions of Chief Minister Punjab. Secretary Local Government Punjab Zaid Bin Maqsood said further improvement in Suthra Punjab operations was a top priority and directed that the verification process of all vehicles be completed at the earliest to ensure effective monitoring of cleanliness operations.
He directed that no compromise be made on workers’ attendance and that the required results under the key performance indicators (KPIs) of Suthra Punjab operations be ensured. The Secretary Local Government Punjab also directed that invoices of field monitoring officers (FMOs) be finalized every month within the stipulated timeframe and regular washing and maintenance of sanitation machinery be ensured.
Regarding the Punjab Development Programme, the Secretary said the most critical components should be completed on a priority basis. He said 90 per cent utilization of funds allocated under the PDP had been ensured last year, while Rs23 billion had been allocated for the programme this year, of which Rs14 billion had so far been released. He directed deputy commissioners to complete zoning of low-lying areas in their respective
districts, conduct impact assessments in areas served by completed disposal stations and submit recommendations regarding designing and planning to the department. The meeting also stressed that development works in non-served areas should be accorded top priority.
Briefing the meeting on the Lahore Development Plan, Deputy Commissioner Lahore Capt (retd) Muhammad Ali Ejaz said hundreds of schemes had been completed under the plan, while a target had been set to upgrade more than 6, 000 streets under Phase-II. The Secretary Local Government Punjab directed all concerned to ensure achievement of targets set under the programmes and further improve the provision of development and municipal services in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister Punjab.
