Markets inspected for price, food safety compliance

Dera ismail khan: The district administration on Thursday carried out surprise inspections of grocery stores and food outlets across different parts of the city to ensure compliance with official price lists and food safety regulations.

Assistant Commissioner Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq conducted the inspections on the directives of the deputy commissioner in Muslim Bazaar, Pawinda Bazaar and Zafarabad Road.

During the visits, official price lists, the prices of essential commodities, cleanliness standards, the quality of food items and the availability of expired products were checked. The shopkeepers were directed to prominently display official rate lists, sell goods at notified prices, maintain proper hygiene and refrain from stocking or selling expired or substandard items.

The district administration said it was committed to ensuring the availability of quality food items at government-approved rates and warned that strict legal action would continue against profiteers and those found selling expired or substandard products or violating official regulations.
