Karachi: Spokesperson for the Mayor of Karachi and Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Karamullah Waqasi said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has accelerated measures aimed at improving civic facilities, rehabilitating major roads and addressing various issues facing the city.
He said that the City Wardens department has launched action against people using narcotics in different parts of the city, along with an operation against unauthorized wires and advertising material installed without permission.
Karamullah Waqasi said that operations are continuing in various areas, particularly South, Napier Road, District Central and other locations, against people using narcotics and illegally installed wires. Following complaints from citizens regarding unauthorized advertisements and advertising material installed without payment of applicable taxes, the scope of the operation has been further expanded.
Waqasi said that the City Wardens Department has decided to establish a special task force under the supervision of Deputy Directors to make the operations more effective and organized. The task force will coordinate monitoring and enforcement activities in different parts of the city.
He said that alongside ongoing development activities, special attention is also being given to improving major roads and continuously monitoring road conditions. Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has directed continuous monitoring of roads under the administrative control of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and emphasized maintaining the quality of development works and ensuring better travelling facilities for citizens.
In this regard, repair work on the damaged portion of M.A. Jinnah Road in front of Light House has been completed. Visible improvements have also started emerging in the central area of Saddar following road rehabilitation measures. Roads around Kamal Ataturk Road and the Sindh Secretariat have been fully restored and reopened for the public.
Waqasi said that special attention has also been given to the affected portion of Shahrah-e-Quaideen. He said that the objective of the ongoing measures is to provide citizens with a better environment, safer roads and essential civic facilities.
He said that monitoring of road rehabilitation and development works would continue alongside action against unauthorized wires, illegal advertising material and other civic issues.
