Lahore: Secretary Sports Punjab Fazl-ur-Rehman inaugurated the mega E-Sports National Championship at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall here on Saturday.
The two-day exciting competitions are being organised with the cooperation of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland Marghoob Butt, DIG Athar Ismail, Director Youth Affairs M Fahad and other officials were also present. A large number of foreign spectators also participated in the inaugural ceremony.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazl-ur-Rehman and Ambassador Marghoob Butt also watched the e-sports competitions and appreciated the enthusiasm and skills of the participating players.
Secretary Sports Punjab Fazl-ur-Rehman said that the Punjab government is fully committed to promoting e-sports in the province. ‘The future of Pakistan in e-sports is bright’. The secretary said that e-sports is a highly interesting and engaging game. ‘I’m quite delighted to see such a large number of participants taking part in the national championship’. He said that the E-Sports National Championship would conclude on Sunday (August 30) with the exciting final competitions at the same venue. ‘A total of 7,000 players registered for the mega championship reflecting growing popularity of e-sports in the country’.
The secretary sports said that the Punjab government will provide greater support to young people in future e-sports competitions. ‘A huge cash prize of Rs3 million will be distributed among the winners and other top performing players of the mega event at the closing ceremony’.
