Peshawar: Commissioner Kohat Division, Syed Motasim Billah on Friday attended a ceremony held to honor slain tribal elder and peace advocate Haji Izzat Gul.
The memorial reference was attended by Deputy Commissioner Orakzai Yousaf Ali Mohmand, Deputy Commissioner Hangu Baseer Ali Rehman, tribal elders and representatives from different walks of life.
Commissioner laid a floral wreath at the portrait of late Haji Izzat Gul and offered prayers while a police contingent presented a ceremonial salute in his honor.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner said Haji Izzat Gul had played a key role in promoting peace, strengthening tribal harmony and helping implement peace agreements across Kohat Division especially in Kurram. . He said the late tribal elder had dedicated his life to foster lasting peace and ultimately sacrificed his life in pursuit of that cause.
The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the departed leader and to establish lasting peace, harmony and stability in Kohat Division and across Pakistan.
