Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner(DC), Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhary on Friday inspected drainage arrangements in different parts of the city after 65mm of heavy rainfall hit Sargodha and its suburbs.
According to a press release issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, the DC visited disposal stations, major roads and low-lying areas, where he was briefed that Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) teams were deployed immediately after the rain began to carry out emergency drainage operations.
Officials informed the DC that all disposal stations remained fully functional with backup arrangements, while drainage work continued overnight without interruption.
The DC was told that rainwater had been cleared from major roads and important points to restore traffic flow, while work was still under way in low-lying areas.
During his visit to City Road and Kutchehry Bazaar, Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhary inspected shop basements and directed the Suthra Punjab Authority and WASA to launch cleaning and washing activities in areas where drainage had been completed.
He directed all relevant departments to remain in the field until the complete removal of stagnant water from affected areas to provide relief to citizens.
Managing Director(MD) Suthra Punjab Authority Muhammad Atif, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Municipal Corporation Ahmad Bilal, XEN FESCO Malik Mazhar and representatives of the trading community were also present.
