LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, Khawaja Salman Rafique, announced that security arrangements for all 5,235 Muharram congregations and over 600 processions in the city are complete.
Chairing a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House on Thursday, he stated that security measures for Muharram have been reviewed province-wide. Final arrangements have been made in consultation with the officials of the main processions. Detention orders for 105 individuals in Lahore have been issued to ensure safety. Police, Rescue, Civil Defense, along with Pak Army and Rangers personnel, have been deployed on duty.
The Cabinet Committee on Law and Order conducted a detailed review of security measures in the Lahore Division for Muharram. Provincial Ministers Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, Bilal Akbar Khan, Bilal Yasin, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, and Faisal Khokhar were present.
Additionally, Members of the Punjab Assembly, including Rana Iqbal Khan, attended the meeting. Senior
officials such as Secretary Home Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Additional IG CTD, Additional IG Special Branch, Commissioner Lahore Zaid Bin Maqsood, and DCs and DPOs of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Nankana were also in attendance.
