Sargodha: A meeting was held at the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, in which Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood, Dean General (R) Khurram Shahzad, Director Asif Chatta and other relevant officers participated. The meeting was briefed in detail about the medical facilities provided in the hospital, the medical procedures completed so far, ongoing projects, staff recruitment and the overall performance of the institution.
The meeting was informed that 61,100 patients had been examined in the Outpatient Department (OPD) of the hospital so far, while 4,06 patients were provided medical facilities in the emergency. 826 patients were admitted to the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), while 51,233 laboratory tests were conducted for the diagnosis and treatment of the patients.
The briefing was informed that 919 cath lab procedures, 2,092 echocardiography tests, 275 exercise tolerance tests and 120 Holter tests have been conducted in the hospital so far. Similarly, 603 X-rays, 223 ultrasounds and Doppler while 194 CT scans were also conducted. Six bypass surgeries have also been successfully performed for the treatment of heart patients in the hospital.
It was further informed that 10 patients were admitted in the surgical ward and 77 in the general ward. Details regarding the completion of the hospital building and other development projects, availability of medical equipment and facilities, stages of staff recruitment and the ongoing recruitment process were also presented in the meeting. The concerned officials briefed the provincial health minister about the functioning of the institution, medical facilities provided to the patients and future plans.
Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique reviewed the medical facilities provided in the hospital and the ongoing measures and directed the concerned officers to utilize all available resources to ensure provision of quality medical facilities to the patients.
He also directed to pay special attention to the administrative affairs of the hospital, availability of staff and progress of ongoing projects.
