Lahore: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab has launched a mega operation against corrupt elements, particularly officials and employees of the Police and Revenue Departments across the province.
ACE Director General Sohail Zafar Chattha has assigned special tasks to all divisional and district officers to intensify efforts for eliminating corruption.
During the last 24 hours, dozens of officials and employees of the Revenue and Police Departments have been arrested on charges of corruption.
According to the ACE spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Abdul Salam of Punjab Police was arrested in Sahiwal, while ASI Muhammad Irfan was apprehended in Faisalabad.
In Bahawalpur, Tehsildar Yasin Shakir and Naib Tehsildar Hasnain Ghani were arrested on corruption charges. In Bahawalnagar, former Naib Tehsildar Ali Akbar, Patwari Muhammad Waqas and Patwari Liaqat Ali were also taken into custody.
The ACE arrested Multan Registry Branch Record Keeper Umar Daraz, while LRO Noor-ul-Hassan, Record Centre In-charge Muhammad Ali Rajput and SCO Shahid were arrested in Sialkot.
Other arrests included Patwari Mudassar Saif in Depalpur, Patwari Allah Nawaz in Multan, Patwari Muhammad Usman in Mandi Bahauddin, Patwari Usman Iqbal and private clerk Hamza Ilyas in Sahiwal, Patwari Nazar Abbas in Chiniot and Kashif Siddique in Toba Tek Singh.
DG ACE Sohail Zafar Chattha directed ACE officers to take indiscriminate action against corrupt elements, saying that those involved in corruption would be brought to justice at all costs.
He urged citizens to report corruption and identify corrupt elements without hesitation. Citizens can also lodge corruption complaints by calling the ACE Punjab helpline 3050.
