Islamabad: At least three people lost their lives on Tuesday after a gas leak triggered a fire that engulfed a house in a nearby village of Arifwala, claiming the lives of a mother and her two young daughters.
According to rescue officials, the incident took place in village 2-EB when a stove connected to a gas cylinder was being lit inside a room where gas leak caused flames to erupt suddenly, engulfing the area and inflicting severe burn injuries on those inside, private news channel reported.
As a result, a 26-year-old woman, Safia, and her two young daughters one-year-old Fazilat and three-year-old Gulshan succumbed to critical burn injuries.
Rescue officials added that Safia’s husband was also seriously injured in the blaze.
He sustained severe burns and was rushed to Sahiwal Hospital in critical condition, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
