Quetta: Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) is taking various steps to provide significant relief to all its consumers in terms of electricity supply.
According to QESCO spokesman, in this regard, on the special instructions of the Federal Ministry of Energy (Power Division), a project has been started to install Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) smart meters on three-phase and single-phase electricity connections in different areas of the province.
He said that Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) is a smart electricity meter according to the modern technology system, the main objective of which is to save time and costs and to improve the transparency of consumer billing, provision of accurate bills and modernize the electricity system.
He mentioned that with the installation of this system, meter reading is monitored automatically, which leaves no room for error. The user can check his reading at any time through his mobile app.
In addition, all the functions of AMR are linked to the central system of KISCO, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Cell, which is controlled through a remote monitoring system.
The spokesman noted that after the installation of AMR meters, timely detection of electricity theft and tampering is also possible, and it also has the facility of data recording and electricity load monitoring.
The installation of smart meters will also ensure the elimination of complaints such as incorrect billing and delay in bills to the users.
He highlighted that under this project, headed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) QESCO Engineer Yousuf Shah Khan, the work of installing smart (AMR) meters for government institutions, provincial departments, commercial and other private consumers with three-phase and single-phase electricity connections in all areas of the province is in full swing and QESCO teams have so far installed AMR meters on a total of about 2934 three-phase and single-phase connections in all operation circles of different areas of the province.
Which includes the installation of AMR meters on 1340 connections in different areas under the Central Operation Circle in Quetta city, 283 connections in the QESCO Loralai Operation Circle, 438 connections in the QESCO Khuzdar Operation Circle, 378 connections in the QESCO Sibi Operation Circle, 203 connections in the QESCO Pashtun Circle, and 292 three-phase and single-phase connections in the areas of the QESCO Mikran Operation Circle.
After which more electricity connections are also being transferred to smart meters (AMR). It should be noted that the direct benefit of the installation of AMR smart meters on three-phase and single-phase connections will be received by the consumer in the form of accurate and timely billing and direct access to their meter reading.
He added that the work of installing AMR meters on three-phase and single-phase connections by the QESCO teams under this project is progressing rapidly. Therefore, QESCO has appealed to all consumers to cooperate with QESCO teams in the installation of AMR meters.
