NCCI arrests five suspects for blackmailing, harassing women across Punjab


Lahore: The National Cyber Crime Investigation (NCCI) agency arrested five suspects across different cities of Punjab for their alleged involvement in online harassment, blackmail, and extortion of women.



According to NCCI Spokesperson, crackdown operations were launched in Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, and Faisalabad based on complaints lodged by victims. In Lahore, NCCI officials arrested suspect Qaiser for pressuring a woman into marriage and threatening to share her private photographs online.



In Gujranwala, an NCCI team apprehended two suspects, Muhammad Muzammil and Ali Asghar, who blackmailed a woman and extorted Rs 200,000 from her. Law enforcement officers recovered a foreign UK-registered WhatsApp number, three mobile phones, and bank transfer receipts during the raid.



Similarly, NCCI teams in Multan arrested suspect Muhammad Tanveer for circulating objectionable content of a woman on WhatsApp and harassing her family. In a separate raid in Faisalabad, suspect Khair Hayat was taken into custody for demanding Rs 500,000 in blackmail money to delete a victim’s images.



Cases were registered against all the arrested suspects, while further investigations were underway.
