Nine held after armed clash over land dispute


Rawalpindi: Police have arrested nine suspects allegedly involved in an armed clash and firing over a land dispute, recovering two Kalashnikovs and five pistols from their possession.



According to police spokesperson, the two rival groups exchanged heavy gunfire during a dispute over a piece of land.



When police arrived at the scene after receiving information about the incident, the suspects allegedly resisted the police as well.



A case was registered with Saddar Barooni against the suspects under charges including terrorism, resistance to police, obstruction on a public road and other relevant provisions of law. Police said raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects’ other accomplices.



SP Saddar said the police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against land grabbers adding that strict action would be taken against such individuals without any discrimination.
